That's A Moray

That's A Moray Today is a free day at CA Academy of Sciences at SF's Golden Gate Park. There are over 200 species of moray eel. I believe these are a honeycomb moray and a zebra moray.  I just learned about this today, and I also learned that yesterday was a free Museum Day at 1400  museums nationwide!  I have six photos from my visit earlier this month over on my Tumblr post:   http://jeffsullivan.tumblr.com/post/62619235675/thats-a-moray-today-is-a-free-day-at-ca-academy http://jeffsullivan.tumblr.com/post/62619235675/thats-a-moray-today-is-a-free-day-at-ca-academy

I Can Stop Frying My Brain

Image
I Can Stop Frying My Brain I use my mobile phone as my main phone for personal and business use, but I've always been concerned about the health effects: "The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) suggests cell phone users to keep a minimum distance of 20 centimeters from their handset to significantly reduce radiation exposure. Adults and especially children can suffer the long-term effects of radiation waves on the brain." 5 Reasons Why Cellphones Are Bad For Your Health http://www.medicaldaily.com/5-reasons-why-cellphones-are-bad-your-health-247624 This handset can get your phone away from your head without having to have all calls in hands free "speaker phone" mode: https://grandst.com/r/4w1gds8w4 I never did warm up to those little bluetooth devices which hang on your ear.  A "real" phone handset looks like a great option for my home office. Here's more on the recent study you may have heard about regarding brain heating from mobile phone us

Mono Lake Sunset Moon Rise

Image
Mono Lake Sunset Moon Rise http://500px.com/photo/46525776 This is a re-edit of a Winter moon rise I captured at Mono Lake in 2009. Both the original edit and the new one are HDRs produced in Photomatix, but the new one I also port-processed in Adobe Lightroom before and after the HDR to make the result a little more realistic. The earlier one ended up too saturated. The sunset and moon were both bright and colorful, and with my updated software and workflow, this is more true to the event.
