I retried this lunar rainbow post as a fresh upload to my G+ Page, and that worked a lot better: Originally shared by Jeff Sullivan Photography Yosemite Moonbow Season Starts Next Month! After catching the setting sun's light on Horsetail Fall this month, I can't wait for the next big annual astronomical event in Yosemite: moonbows in the mist of Yosemite's waterfalls. These night rainbows happen at certain times on certain nights based on the position of the moon in the sky relative to your viewing position. The moon moves a lot from night to night, so the time you'll catch them in a given waterfall changes every night. This year the moonbows should be the strongest they've been in recent years, due to the El Nino weather pattern bringing us a healthy snowpack in the Sierra Nevada. The main months to capture the moonbows are April and May, although they can continue in June in many waterfalls if their flow stays healthy. IF you'd like to try for them with me in...

Horsetail Fall, Yosemite National Park

Image
Horsetail Fall, Yosemite National Park A number of conditions have to be just right for Horsetail Fall to flow at all, but you also need clear skies to the west for it to also be backlit by the setting sun.  It can take photographers years of trying before they arrive in Yosemite National Park before all of the right conditions occur. #yosemitenationalpark   #landscapephotography  Yosemite National Park Workshops  www.MyPhotoGuides.com

Bridalveil Fall Reflection

Image
Bridalveil Fall Reflection I'm having good luck re-processing some old Yosemite images from the 2002 - 2009 time frame, produced before some of the newer versions of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom.  I'll leave many of the older images up for comparison, so I'm putting many of the newer ones on my Yosemite National Park Workshops page. #yosemitephotography   #landscapephotography   #california  Blog: www.MyPhotoGuides.com Originally shared by Yosemite National Park Workshops Bridalveil Fall in Late Summer Bridalveil Creek is spring-fed, so it isn't as dependent on spring snowmelt as some of the other waterfalls in Yosemite Valley, but its flow can still get pretty meager in dry years. This is a re-edit of a photo I took in August 2007.  I produced this new version in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 and HDRsoft Photomatix 5 (HDR) software.   #yosemitenationalpark   #hdrphotography   #photographyworkshop   www.JeffSullivanPhotography.com
