Thank you TravelNevada for selecting my images for the front and back cover of your 2019 visitor's guide! It's a huge honor for me to have my images promoting travel and photography in our home state! For the front cover image, it was 102 degrees on that day, and we arrived to find the campground washed out and closed due to a flash flood a few days earlier, but we weren't going to let a little weather get in the way of the photography we were determined to capture! The model on the cover is Lori Hibbett. It's fun to see our Border Collie puppy Donnan that small and young on the cover, only a few weeks old at the time, and on his first road trip. He desperately wanted to herd the free range cattle all the way across Nevada. I love Nevada's Cathedral Gorge State Park, and can't wait to get back. I may have the opportunity to revisit later this month. #TravelNevada #DFMI #TravelPhotography #Nevada

Photos From Central Nevada Last Week Here's a photo from my tour of Central Nevada last week. More images are here on my blog: http://www.jeffsullivanphotography.com/blog/2018/05/18/central-nevada-photography-workshop-scouting-highlights/ This is one location out of three regions I scouted, so there are many more photos to come! I'm still assessing sites, itineraries and access/permissions, but when I get the details worked out, workshop dates and registration will appear here: http://www.jeffsullivanphotography.com/blog/nevada-photography-workshops/ #TravelNevada #NVSilverTrails #DFMI #RoadTripUSA #landscapehotography

Storms over the weekend in Nevada Here are some photos from storm chasing over the weekend, which took us from Tapaz Lake across Smith Valley, ending up south of Yerington in Lyon County, Nevada.  We get some great spring storms! #Nevada   #weather   #photography #nvmag   #travelnevada   www.JeffSullivanPhotography.com

Orionid Meteor Shower 2014

Orionid Meteor Shower 2014 Thanks to Liz Horton and ABC11-WTVD in Raleigh for using my Orionid Meteor shower time-lapse video from 2012 to inform viewers about the Orionid meteor shower this year.  Here's five hours of the 2014 Orionid meteor shower, condensed into a few seconds of time-lapse video.  I shot it in the high, dry, optimal dark sky viewing conditions of the Tonopah Star Trails area of Nevada, under some of the darkest skies in the world. Here's ABC11's report informing viewers of the shower, with my much longer 2012 video: http://abc11.com/weather/orionid-meteor-shower-visible-tuesday-night-/359788/ #Tonopahstartrails #travelnevada #astronomy #news #Orionids  Travel Nevada Nevada Magazine  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uHJ6CYZwnM&feature=autoshare

Abandoned Stamp Mill

Image
Abandoned Stamp Mill It's nice to find a historical site so remote that it's not heavily vandalized, shot full of bullet holes!  This was a single 30 second exposure.  I lit the outside then ducked under the pipe in the doorway and somehow missed the holes in the floor as I lit the inside red and green. I used a 3-color LED flashlight offering separate red, green and blue LEDs: What Lights Are in Your Light Painting Bag? http://activesole.blogspot.com/2014/09/what-lights-are-in-your-light-painting.html It's available for around $40 on Amazon.com.  These are some of the lights I've bought lately:  http://astore.amazon.com/jeffsulliphot-20?_encoding=UTF8&node=21 http://activesole.blogspot.com/ #lightpainting   #nightphotography   #Nevada   #travelnevada   #nvmag

Abandoned Mine in Nevada

Abandoned Mine in Nevada I probably don't want to know what's in this mustard-colored sludge, but it had a nice texture to it. #roadtrip   #travelnevada   #nvmag   #abandoned   #photography   https://www.flickr.com/photos/jeffreysullivan/sets/72157616817427926/

Touch and Go

Image
Touch and Go It's not uncommon for planes to practice landings here on Topaz Lake in the fall after the winds calm down and after fishing season closes and there are fewer boats on the water. But the four planes this morning practicing touch and go passes were unique: they had wheels, not pontoons! www.JeffSullivanPhotography.com #TopazLake   #Nevada   #travelnevada   #NVmag   #airplanes
