On May 20, 2012 certain areas within the United States will experience an "annular" eclipse, where the sun will go behind the moon for about 4 minutes. The sun will seem slightly larger than the moon, so around the dark moon there will be a bright ring ( there can be only one... ). This is the first annular eclipse to occur in the United States in 18 years.
