I was able to capture this frame with the moon and Venus reflected. https://picasaweb.google.com/107459220492917008623/NightPhotos#5713945726383135874 #astrophotography #starrynights

I don't cross-post to my pages and my personal account often, but the photo and video I added to this blog post are pretty nice, and G+ doesn't seem to show blog posts to many of my contacts: http://activesole.blogspot.com/2015/05/a-photo-workshop-day-and-night-in-bodie.html Originally shared by Jeff Sullivan Milky Way Rising Behind Joshua Trees The Milky Way rises to the east behind Joshua Trees, an iconic indicator of the Mojave Desert ecosystem. I've added this photo and the time-lapse video created from the same photos to my blog post showing photos and video that I captured: Time-lapse of the Milky Way Rising in the Mojave Desert http://activesole.blogspot.com/2015/05/time-lapse-of-milky-way-rising-in.html www.MyPhotoGuides.com #nightphotography   #starrynights   #travelblogger   #photographer

Bright Green Geminid Meteor Over Topaz Lake

Image
Bright Green Geminid Meteor Over Topaz Lake This was captured during the Geminid meteor shower last night.  The Geminid meteor shower produces a lot of meteors, but not as many fireballs as the Perseid meteor shower.  This is a particularly bright one. #Geminids #meteorshower #science #astronomy #breakingnews #sciencesunday #scienceeveryday   #starrynights   #nightphotography   #astrophotography   www.JeffSullivanPhotography.com

Moon - Venus Conjunction from Memorial Point, Lake Tahoe

Image
Moon - Venus Conjunction from Memorial Point, Lake Tahoe Here's a vertically composed image from the moon and Venus conjunction on December 27. I was fortunate to be driving along Lake Tahoe at sunset, providing some great light and compositions for this astronomical event. Here's the horizontal composition I posted on December 28, which ended up being one of my favorite shots of 2011: https://plus.google.com/107459220492917008623/posts/fbAkSJoRbUk #StarryNights   #astronomy   #planetconjunction

Orionid Meteor Shower Last Saturday Morning (HD Timelapse Video)

Image
Orionid Meteor Shower Last Saturday Morning (HD Timelapse Video) The Orionid Meteor Shower this year was a bit of a dud. I was shooting up at 11,000 feet in the White Mountains and ran my camera for about 4 hours, from 10:40pm Friday until 2:50am, well after the moon came up. To see how a much more active meteor shower looks, here's one of my Perseid Meteor Shower videos from the same location, displayed on the Discover Magazine blog, best viewed full screen: Perseids, Writ Large http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/badastronomy/2009/08/25/perseids-writ-large/ I have a number of posts on my blog www.MyPhotoGuides.com * related to night shooting and timelapse videos. Here's one of the more recent ones building on those pasts posts: Create a Timelapse Video of a Meteor Shower http://activesole.blogspot.com/2011/08/create-timelapse-video-of-meteor-shower.html I'm curious to see how an HD 720P video gets displayed on G+. I have a ton of timelapse footage that I haven't foun...
