Bodie Researched for Alton Towers Theme Park This was a fun video to shoot. U.K. theme park Alton Towers decided to research an authentic mining town for an attraction they're opening this week. We spent one day up in Bodie capturing video, time-lapse footage, stills, interviews and sounds, and this was the result. America's Favorite "Ghost Town" With Fall colors, the solar eclipse and the Orionid meteor shower all packed into October, not to mention wrapping up my guidebook, I haven't had much time to look at photos from our workshops in Bodie earlier this month, but here are a few.  Lori Hibbett and I mostly stayed out of buildings so our customers could access 14 of them.  We do run cameras during many of the night shots to monitor exposure and light painting effects. The Wild West at Night The "Wild West" was epitomized by rough, lawless towns.  Many of them were mining towns, and the best surviving example may be Bodie.  Preserved as a Bodie State Historic Park, a lot of money and effort goes into maintaining it in a state of "suspended decay".
