Oregon Dunes and Sea Stacks at Sunset I spent about two weeks visiting Oregon this month. I visited this spot twice on the way up the coast, then for sunset, full moon at night, and sunrise photography on the way back. It was different every time; I couldn't get enough of it! Battery Point Lighthouse Sunrise Moon Set One of my favorite shots on my Oregon Coast road trip ended up being on my way back, just into California at Crescent City. On National Geographic I explain why I went out of my way to be here, at this place and time. I used the app The Photographer's Ephemeris on my iPhone to test the concept of a sunrise moon set over the Battery Point Lighthouse in Crescent City and it seemed to work well, so I set up shortly before sunrise to enjoy the anticipated moment as it unfolded. https://yourshot.nationalgeographic.com/photos/12806549/ #landscapephotography #California #astrophotography

Comet 21P/Giacobini-Zinner This Morning Comet 21P/Giacobini-Zinner (2018) at 12:43 am on Monday, September 3, 2018. Comet 21P/Giacobini-Zinner(2018) and the bright star Capella clearing a ridge at 12:43 am early this morning at Topaz Lake on the California/Nevada border. A single exposure was captured on a Canon EOS 6D and EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L lens, on an iOptron skyTracker. The image was adjusted in Adobe Lightroom. #astrophotography #nightphotography #Nevada
