It'll be a while before I can return, so for the moment I have to settle for updating an old album from past visits.

ReplyDeleteGreat photo. I grew up near many big rivers in Northern California. That photo looks like its near Brice Canyon, Utah. Great book and that's a beautiful passage selected from that book. Every river has a story.

ReplyDeleteJames weikart Some were taken on the Canon Digital Rebel XT or XTi, some on a Canon Powershot G5, possibly some on a Canon EOS 40D if I bought mine by 2007 (probably later).

I had just been noticing that some combination of being out in the field for 11 days and the new site layout seemed to have knocked down interaction on G+. Nice surprises like this restore my confidence that people are still participating in the site, and fuel my optimism that some day Google could adjust the operation of G+ to make participation in the site much broader, and more rewarding for both the people who appreciate nice images and the people creating and presenting them.

ReplyDeleteSamantha Diamond This Norman Maclean lived in Montana, wrote a semi-autobiographical collection book of three stories, and one of them "A River Runs Through It" was made into a movie, directed by Robert Redford and starring Brad Pitt.
ReplyDeleteGary Louie I grew up exploring the ponds and swamps of Massachusetts and the streams of New Hampshire, catching snakes, frogs, turtles and fish. I was fortunate to go on two cross-country trips at age 12 and 15, when I discovered in places like Rocky Mountain National Park that flyfishing could produce great results. I moved to California at age 14 and started backpacking and tying my own flies, and when I obtained a driver's license I started exploring the Sierra Nevada on weekends and Summer break. I still flyfish when the opportunity presents itself, and I flew to Missouri to join a a group of guides starting to film a movie there. One of them got injured and they ran out of budget quickly, but I'd still like to film a flyfishing movie once I complete a couple of current projects. I have a concept in mind to develop once I get a gap in my current workload. The phrase "I am haunted by waters" definitely resonates with me.
