Just a quick reminder that much of the American West will be in the path of at least a partial solar eclipse this Sunday:

Where Will You Shoot the May 20, 2012 Solar Eclipse?
On May 20, 2012 certain areas within the United States will experience an "annular" eclipse, where the sun will go behind the moon for about 4 minutes. The sun will seem slightly larger than the moon, so around the dark moon there will be a bright ring (there can be only one...). This is the first annular eclipse to occur in the United States in 18 years.

If you look at the table of all solar eclipses through 2020 and cross off the partial ones, the remaining total or annular eclipses will mainly happen in very inconvenient places or out to sea: http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/SEdecade/SEdecade2011.html

So this will be one of your best opportunities to catch on on land, in a place relatively easy to get to.

I'm giving a talk Saturday evening May 19 in Yosemite National Park at the Sierra Club's LeConte Memorial Lodge in Yosemite Valley, but Sunday morning I'll drive up to a location directly in the narrow path of the eclipse:

I'm trying to decide between offering a workshop during the eclipse, leading a G+ Photowalk, or just going somewhere to pursue my own shots. Decisions, decisions...

Do you have plans to shoot it? Where, in general terms, in its path between Northern Texas and Northern California?
