Spring Wildflowers in Southern California
Spring Wildflowers in Southern California
To help you pick places to go for wildflowers, and best times to go there, I've created an album with 150+ wildflower images from Southern California (Yosemite to San Diego). It's more or less by place and then time, but ordered the places by peak bloom time as well.
I've made the album available via a post in the new Southern California Photography community I created here on G+ yesterday (filed under the Spring Wildflower discussion thread), and I'll post links to a number of Southern California themed albums in the community description in the left column as well.
Wildflower blooms are sporadic from year to year and can vary in timing by weeks as well, so while it's great to plan ahead, it's also important to research current conditions for that year, in that place, before you go. Super-detailed directions would be a little pointless in many cases, since upon arrival you have to adapt to that particular year's wildflower distribution for that area. I've seen some great blooms in the Antelope Valley State Poppy Preserve for example, only to return in other years and see them blooming just about everywhere in the area but on the State Preserve. I've created a Spring Wildflower discussion thread in the community so we can show current conditions as the wildflower season progresses.
The community is set up as private to minimize participation by spammers. While I wasn't able to invite many people directly yesterday, please feel free to request membership vi the link to the community in the next post here if you'd like to contribute your own photos or view the contributions of others.
