Tumblr Challenges Twitter for VMA Volume
Twitter has been credited as the social network dominating response to television, but a data firm credited Tumblr with 1.1M messages vs. 1.3M on Twitter following MTV's Video Music Awards.  Twitter disputed the numbers, saying that they had 3M tweets during the VMAs.  Either way, Tumblr clearly has a thriving community that can't be ruled out of the race.
