Yosemite's Lunar Rainbow "Moonbows" Weak This Year
Yosemite's Lunar Rainbow "Moonbows" Weak This Year
I was hoping to replace some my old moonbow photos with ones taken on my newest camera, but it's looking like we're going to have to wait another year for a strong snowpack the healthy Spring runoff and waterfall mist which sends the light of the moon back at us in rainbow colors. I've updated my old blog post from 2008 to contain more information on pursuing moonbows in case you'd like to try anyway: http://activesole.blogspot.com/2008/05/chasing-moonbow-in-yosemite-valley-at.html

I had canceled plans to shoot it this year due to the low water flow. Sorry to hear that I guessed correctly, usually this is the best month for shooting water in the valley. We always have the high country all summer tho...
ReplyDeleteLori Hibbett and I will head over anyway Phillip Colla. We're not expecting much, but with Tioga Pass open early, it's just too convenient to pass up. Hopefully there will still be some dogwood trees blooming, and they won't be too wilted or bug-eaten this late in their cycle. We were fortunate to find a campsite open, and we know some places where we should find some nice things to shoot, and midweek and outside of the busy summer season, Yosemite is a great place to spend a few days in the Spring.
