Don't Rule Twitter Out
Even a non-photography centric site can have benefits for photographers.  One of my Geminid meteor shower photos enjoyed over 400 shares and favorites there.  More importantly though there seems to be a low barriers to making new contacts, as as the site puts my work, posts, account, career in front of "friends of friends", it could lead to some interesting professional contacts.
