From The Early Days of G+
From The Early Days of G+
This album first shared on August 11, 2011 only received 51 +1s, but it had 58 shares! Now an album is lucky to get 1/4 of the distribution of a photo post, and photo posts do not get full distribution to your contacts who opted in to see them.
The site seemed to be much more interesting under the original algorithms. Perhaps human brain chemistry favors the unexpected, the pleasant surprise which is more likely to come form people NOT related to you as a previous friend? That would be terribly inconvenient for a network being designed to determine and mainly distribute content to your friends and social connections that they feel you can market to.

In honor of Trey Ratcliff's photowalk 6:30pm at Stanford tonight, I'm sharing around 200 HDR images I produced in 2009. (Thanks in advance for shares!)

ReplyDeleteJeff Sullivan Those are classics... and I agree that Google+'s algorithm unfortunately has taken a turn for the worse in terms of selecting what goes into my home stream...

ReplyDeleteVery nice
ReplyDeleteIt's so amazing bro..
ReplyDeleteChristian Albers Although I used "HDR" software, it was often in the Batch->Average mode offered in the Photomatix software by HDRsoft, so I often recovered highlights and shadow detail without the distracting effects of tone mapping. In other words, I was achieving the higher dynamic range that HDR is intended to deliver.

ReplyDeleteGreat points about the algorithms.
Euro Maestro Maybe so, but many people have been making useful observations about G+ for years, yet little progress seems to be made. If nothing else, at least invoking Trey Ratcliff's name seems to automatically bump up the success of a post.
ReplyDeleteFabulous images, wouldn't it be fun to stand behind the eyes of photographer, and listen to their brainwaves as they frame their shots. There's a vantage point we'll never get to experience, just their moment'a time as seen I their end work...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures sir
