Keith Cuddeback I pay for the required $1M policy for liability insurance, with a specific "additional named insured" certificate specifically indemnifying the California State Parks system, then I pay the Bodie Foundation an additional $3000 or so to bring groups in for 6-7 hours of interior access plus 6-7 hours of after hours and night access. Their fee structure starts at $500 fro night access plus $100/person, $400 for interior access plus $100/person, so including the insurance it could easily cost well over $1000 for a person to arrange their own access, but by bringing in groups, I can get access down to $545 for both interior and night access, and if I have room, I've occasionally offered night only at $325 and interiors only at $245. I've had other pro photographers come in with my workshops multiple times, since it's cheaper than arranging their own access. http://www.jeffsullivanphotography.com/blog/bodie-night-photography-workshops/
Yikes Jeff Sullivan! It's great that you are arranging access for groups. I'm down for a night access, even on short notice. How do I get on the list? I'm planning to go to Bristlecones next week during the new moon, do you have a group then? I'm flexible.
Keith Cuddeback I'm bringing photographers out to Bodie this Saturday. The standard package I set up includes access to building interiors not generally open to the public from sunrise to noon, then a return at 6 pm after the park closes for sunset and night access until 1 am: http://www.jeffsullivanphotography.com/blog/bodie-night-photography-workshops/ I was thinking about opening up a limited number of spaces for night or interior access only if you'd prefer that.
Jeff Sullivan this month the timing isn't quite right. I can't get away until Tuesday so I'll be going to Bristlecone Pines then. However, I would like to plan to do a night shoot at Bodie in the future when you have space. Cheers!

Photographing California Groups on Facebook & Flickr I've set up two groups to share landscape photography from the area covered by my landscape photography guidebook "Photographing California Vol. 2 - South." ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot Jeff Sullivan. When I was there they closed before sunset. How do you arrange to be there at night?
