Melany, It's water from a natural hot spring, carried by pipe a few feet into a built-up rock and concrete tub, so you can control via a valve how much of the 172 degree water to let in. As for the other question, would you want to have a wet bathing suit in a car full of your camera gear (and clothes, sleeping bag, etc.)? Sounds like a recipe for disaster to me!
Philippe, It's one of the most spectacular dawn views in California, and surely the most comfortable, particularly when temperatures are below freezing!
