Sharing Circles; the Easiest Way to Share Lists
Sharing Circles; the Easiest Way to Share Lists
In the "old days," last week, recommended lists were all the rage, but they were difficult to manage. They were created offsite, and you had to add users one at a time. As of yesterday, that has all changed.
Jarek Klimek started early on Google+ and grew a list of outstanding photographers, sorted by specialty. (It was a hard list to get on; I only was added in the most recent version.) Now with the circle share function you can do three things:
1) Easily add these photographers via the "Add circle" link., and
2) If you've added the intact list as a new circle, you can re-share it
Caveat: you are not in your circles, so you won't be on the list when you send it out.
3) If you want, since you now have the circle, you can add to the list and create your own custom version. (Out of courtesy it would probably be good to disclose the nature of your changes and not market it as the exact same list.) For example, if you receive the circle shared from a member of the list, you could add them back to the circle, since they are not in their own circles. Otherwise each list will get shorter and more inaccurate with each successive share as the sharers are removed!
Try it with someone else's circle share (as I'm doing here), then you can make your own lists via circles, and share them at will! If the share of a post qualifies as "a bear hug," the share of a user recommendation is... something even more!
Last caveat: circle shares only accept the first 249 people, so keep your recommendations under that limit so you don't accidentally lose anyone along the way.
So give it a try. As your friends join Google+, it'll be easy for you to help them create circles of mutual friends or streams of interesting posts to keep them engaged, well sorted by subject.
