Star Trails Over Pliocene Clay Lake Bed

Star Trails Over Pliocene Clay Lake Bed
Star Trails over erosion patterns in Pliocene-era bentonite clay in a former lake bed in rural Nevada.
The eroded hills were partially lit by the moon, but also illuminated using a ProtoMachines LED2 light set to approximately the same color temperature as moonlight.

ReplyDeleteWow Amazing
ReplyDeleteWoa! Beam me up! This is very cool! Thx as always.
ReplyDeleteAwesome shot Jeff! Did you buy a photomachine light? I'd love to have one but yikes they are expensive!
ReplyDeleteJohn Getchel I did. I figured that for serious light painting and night photography instruction, it's important to have a light adjustable in stops of light, and which I can use to create either a wide variety of colors or a range of cool to warm shades of white.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous capture!! I love the star trails!!
ReplyDeleteNice! I'd love to see it in action someday!
ReplyDeleteI like that kind of hillside, Jeff Sullivan. Aside from a wonderful place to explore with an active curiosity, I can see it like playing with a larger-scale formation than sand tufas, smaller scale than Bryce. Repeating patterns and shapes...with a vengeance!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful , I like the Stars
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done
