The fire is roughly halfway to our house, but hopefully the more moderate winds today will enable the firefighters to slow its spread. Full containment is estimated for June 30, but a lot can change between now and then.

The Pacific Crest Trail Association published a useful map showing the fire's progress around Monitor Pass.
I'll put more photos on DripThat, a new app and community which facilitates the telling of stories through pictures, video and text. ReplyDeleteMary Mactavish thanks for the update. Hopefully it has turned around for certain.
ReplyDeleteThe Washington fire which started near Ebbetts Pass in the Sierra Nevada grew to over 17,000 acres last week as it burned for over 9 miles towards Monitor Pass. We had some heavy rain during thunderstorms this afternoon, so hopefully the rain will have suppressed much of the active fire perimeter.
ReplyDeleteFortunately, six other small fires set by lightning in recent days were all stopped at one acre or less.
